Twitter User Named In Threat to Sell a Stolen Customer Database
The Twitter user that stole and threatened to use a customer database with names and credit card information has been named and charged. Michael Fumich of Sheboygan, Wisconsin was arrested and charged with computer theft which only carries a misdemeanor charge.
Kornflake1 was the Twitter username of the man that posted a picture screenshot of the database and offered to sell it on Twitter Monday. A search warrant was served and computer hard drives including the flash drive with the information were removed by the Sheboygan Police Department. Fumich has had his account canceled after the company owner informed Twitter of what he was doing.
The company has issued a statement assuring customers that every effort was made to keep their personal information safe and they do not feel as police do, that Fumich used the information he stole from the company computer.
